troubling stars

The story of a silly girl who is learning to be a wife, a mom of two boys, a homemaker, and a responsible citizen of Planet Earth all simultaneously. "To enjoy a thing exclusively is commonly to exclude yourself from the true enjoyment of it." Thoreau

The gifts of marriage and motherhood force us to get outside of ourselves and realize that our actions not only affect us, but our husbands and children. We make no choices in a vaccuum. We may end up even troubling stars.

About Me

My photo
troubling stars
Every day I quietly seek to be a peacemaker; building community to diminish loneliness, giving my money to companies i respect rather than seeking the best deal, trying to increase the beauty within and around me to share with the world. But, I fear slipping into suburban housewife oblivion. I want to build and restore peace between man and man, woman and man, humanity and creation, less quietly, more radically, bravely, and uncomfortably. Overwhelmed before I begin, I want to change the world. Ha. But, I do. And I don't know where to start, how to do it. Paralyzed by the knowledge of so many who have gone before me with great love and carefulness who have increased rather than alleviated the pain of our world. But, I want to be quickened, I want to bring healing; to people, to ecosystems, we are all connected. All dependent on one another. Our simple actions here can truly trouble stars.

Studying the simplicity of monastic life

Studying the simplicity of monastic life
Tautra, Norway
When a traveler asked Wordsworth's servant to show him her master's study, she answered, "Here is his library, but his study is out of doors."
